After discovering the magic of the internet, I stumbled upon chatroom RPG games. What was this? RPGs without dice? Purely relying on storytelling and all the fun parts about D&D without all the tedious math parts? Sign me up! This is also where I began to learn that I express myself much more clearly and fluently through text than through speech, so it made the roleplaying experience that much more real to me.
